Inclusion Statement 2009

Woodcote School Sports Partnership is committed to inclusive practices that encourage participation in physical
activity of all people, regardless of their age, gender, cultural background, sexual orientation, disability and income.

Woodcote School Sports Partnership aims to support teachers in fulfilling the requirements of the National
Curriculum for Physical Education (The National Curriculum, 1999, p30) which states that schools must:

·   Set suitable learning challenges

·   respond to pupils’ diverse learning needs

·   overcome potential barriers to learning and assessment for individuals and groups of pupils.

PE and school sport is an ideal vehicle to promote community cohesion and Woodcote School Sports Partnership
aims to provide an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere that values everyone’s contribution, and challenges prejudice
and injustice
.

Where it is safe to do so, all pupils will be included in Woodcote School Sports Partnership activities. Woodcote
School Sports Partnership will also undertake to provide special opportunities for those with disabilities and other
groups to participate in specifically designed events as well as inclusive events and in talent identification schemes
such as Playground to Podium.
